Static Datafeeds:
Datafeeds are a great way to increase product depth on your website. If you are familiar with developing database-driven websites, using datafeeds will be a walk in the park. If you have access to a MySQL database, you can download a datafeed from any of our NetShops stores and place those products on your website! If you do not, we recommend using our dynamic datafeeds as an alternative. In fact, we recommend using our dynamic datafeeds regardless, as you won't need to update your database every month with the latest feeds. If your web hosting company does not allow you to pull data from a remote server, you will need to use static feeds or else look for another hosting company.
If you do make use of static datafeeds, it is important that you update them frequently, as prices and inventory do fluctuate and the last thing you want to do is send your visitor to a page that no longer exists. It is also important that you not remove the < q > tags around the product descriptions found in the feeds. The < q > tag eliminates the risk of receiving a duplicate content penalty from Google.

4Select the format you prefer, choose a campaign, and click 'Download File' We recommend using the .csv or .txt format with an SQL database. Once you download the file you can import it to an SQL table and access it via a scripting language such as PHP or ASP. You will need to download the latest feeds every month or so, lest your feed expire and the links no longer work. If you are not familiar with using PHP to interact with mysql, there are lots of resources online. |
