Banners and Text Links:
The simplest way to add affiliate links to your website is with a banner or text link. Banners do not typically receive a high click-thru rate, but some people who are extremely "visual" may favor them. They work well as a supplement to text links on your page. Text links are the most effective links you can implement quickly. They provide you the opportunity to "presell" a product or merchant to your web visitors. You may choose to write a few sentences or paragraphs about hammocks, for example, followed by a link to a "recommended store for hammocks." If the anchor text (the text used in the hyperlink) reads simply "click here," you will almost certainly want to change it to something more meaningful for your visitors, such as "hammock stands." This has search engine optimization (SEO) benefits as well as being user-friendly.
You can customize landing pages for both banners and text links, simply by modifying the URL used in the link. To create your own custom link, first grab a link from the campaign you are interested in promoting. Replace the URL with the exact URL you want to point visitors to, taking care to leave source=affiliates intact. The bid= and aid= variables must also be in place for proper tracking: simply append them to the end of the URL you want the link to point to, and you're finished!
